5 out of 5 stars Just Fine   December 18, 2008

Works fine for me. The transition from .Mac was completely smooth. Syncing between multiple Macs is a godsend.

Just please change the silly "MobileMe" name to something with a bit more elegance.

4 out of 5 stars Works for me too   December 13, 2008

I've been using MobileMe for about two months now, and I find that it works pretty well. I can't comment on the e-mail function, since I don't use that, but the synchronization of contacts, photos, calendar, etc, works as advertised. In addition, a number of third-party applications (such as OmniFocus) use it to sync data. I can't imagine having an iPhone without MobileMe - you would not be able to take full advantage of the iPhone's capabilities. That said, I don't mind paying less than full retail price for it. Other services that do some of the same functions, such as SugarSync, are substantially cheaper. Four stars instead of five due to the price.

4 out of 5 stars great but not perfect   December 7, 2008

Wow there are a lot of bad reviews here!
If you look you will notice almost all of them were written during the same week in July 08, around the time of iphone 3g, iphone 2.0, and the mac.com/Mobile Me conversion. Yes Apple had major problems then. The timing was poor and Apple admits it's mistakes, but thats said and done now.

I love this service. It is amazing how my 3 macs and iphone are all in sync. When I'm away I can use any machine with web access to see all my mail, contact, ical, and data files. Again - amazing.

Creating web sites, blogs, and web photo galleries are cake.

Video chat with my family and friends ?? How cool is that??

Okay let it be known this is a CONSUMER product.

My main gripe is often due to "regular maintenance" or some other B.S. the email is not working.

The connection can be slow at times, and the fact it works properly only with Safari is a PITA.

4 out of 5 stars Mobile Me Not For Everyone   November 29, 2008

As a long-time Mac user, the one Apple product I have stayed away from is .mac and its successor MobileMe. Why? Because if you want email only, there are better and cheaper alternatives (try Gmail). However, I recently ran into need for two killer features that made this service worthwhile: seamlessly publishing my calendar for colleagues to see and iDisk file sharing. Now there are alternatives to accomplish both of these things on the Net, but they require some geekiness. With MobileMe, I simply said publish my calendar and there it was. Same simplicity for file sharing. Is it worth $x (retail price is $99, but I paid under $50)? It was for me. Four stars for functionality and integration into the Mac OS. Lose a star for high-price...

4 out of 5 stars works for me   November 17, 2008

I see lots of complaints on these and other boards. I have used this service since it's inception. Sure there are some bugs and annoyances. But it does the basic job.

I have two desktops, one laptop and an ipod touch all synced with MobileMe. (Though I do hate that name.) Any change on any one device automatically gets sent to all other devices.
