I have been a loyal Apple customer for 5 years and couldn't me more disappointed than I am today with MobileMe. This application has crippled the Apple user community and is far less useful than expected. It is not fully integrated and not a replacement for any Blackberry. Calendars are not integrated with email, and you cannot send invites out via the Calendar application. It's just terrible. And two weeks into the launch and our email is still not consistently available.

I have been a .Mac subscriber since the beginning. We have had the "Family Pack" for the past 2 years.

You would expect a "Family Pack" to include ways to have common calendars and address books and to share files easily.

Nope.

You can only share calendars with family members on a read-only basis. The address book sharing is very unreliable and buggy. I have had to use 3rd party tools for both of these purposes.

The transition to MobileMe has been very rocky, as we had no email access at all for the first 2 days and no email access on our primary account for the past 5 days. The change also broke our calendar sharing scheme and we are now trying a different 3rd party tool for this.

We have kept it all this time because we were able to make it work for us without too much trouble, but I can't recommend it to anyone else.

I've had MobileMe (previously .Mac) for 4 months now and I love it. It provides a fast and easy way to publish your photo albums to the web as well as delivering your content to your different platforms (think your home mac machine, iphone & work PC).

This is the next generation of technology and it will only get better.

I am a VERY unhappy MobileMe customer.

I was a happy .mac user for years. Then happiness came to a sudden halt when MobileMe was "pushed" on us. I can no longer access my email at work (company has not yet upgraded to IE 7 and can not install other browsers). But perhaps worst of all, loss of data and email for weeks on end! Clearly Apple had no disaster recovery plan in place, and it took weeks for them to even admit to a problem. Unacceptable.

Convenient customer service is also non-existent for this product. There is no one to call on the phone. The email support was at first hidden and now completely removed. Your only options are to wait forever to "chat" online with someone who won't be able to help. Obviously "mobile" people have all the time in the world to wait around and "chat" with a MobileMe customer no-service rep!!!

The concepts behind this product is definitely the future. But Apple's execution is embarrassingly bad. Even if (and when) Apple works out the bugs, MobileMe is still one of the cheesiest product names in recent memory! Who wants to be stuck with a @me.com email address? Seriously Apple, @me.com is the best you could do?!? Not only unprofessional sounding, it is about as chic as @aol.com.

If you are still wanting to purchase this product despite the bad reviews, please do yourself a favour and wait a few months. At the very minimum, hold off your purchase until you get a good nights sleep first.

It's now July 23 and the Mobile Me is working fine and correctly synching for me and my three family members. Some bad days for a while but all is okay now in my experience.
