Easy to Use - watered down from Windows version October 28, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been using QB for Windows for a few years and recently bought a Mac. QB for Mac is like a watered down version of QB for Windows. Much more basic and doesn't have the same helpful "views" that the Windows version has. Still easy to use and works great for what I need. I would recommend it to others.
Why all the negativity? October 25, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
As an owner of a design studio I find this software invaluable - we've only scraped the surface of its capabilities from estimates to invoicing, tax stuff, report generation, time and project tracking to name a few... i would have given it 4 stars if it was networkable. It's BS that only one-person at a time can read the master file. Until something better is out there for Mac we'll keep using it.
Very Different from The PC version September 9, 2007 The QB for Mac is completely different than the Windows version. If you need to be able to hit the ground running, and you used a Windows version previously, you are going to have a rough start! So, far, I do not think it is as easy to navigate as the windows version. I am new to Mac though, but still, I would have thought it would be more similar than it is. Getting my files switched from windows to the Mac was not easy wither! I had to pay MAC $100 to get my PC files converted to the Mac because it was so complicated, so be aware of that. I hope the QB for Mac turns out to be as easy to use as the Windows version, but it is looking grim. Good luck!
Miserable August 24, 2007 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Intuit has treated Mac users as second-class for years and this release is one more example. There are dozens - maybe hundreds - of things this release of Quickbooks doesn't do that have been available in the Windows version for years. Example? You can't even sort a register in this version! From an accounting point of view...well, let's say it's a waste of money. If you want a professional accounting application for the Mac that most people can use with a little investment in learning, buy MYOB/AccountEdge. PLEASE do not waste your money on Quickbooks.
watch out for sunset August 6, 2007 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I am or was a QB 2004 PC user, FYI Intuit has a 3 year sunset policy that turns off all online features. (check website for a partial list) This includes little things like emailing invoices. Support stated that losing the ability to email was not stated in the sunset policy, but didn't care because it was no longer supported, so even if it was broke they wouldn't fix it. I was told by senior support that ALL products have a 3 year life and will die. - So if you need a long term program, look somewhere else, if you like keeping up to date then its does the job.
