1 out of 5 stars Beware of this product   January 14, 2004

Not only does this product completely freeze your iPod if it's plugged in for more than a few minutes if you don't record anything, but the recording quality is AWFUL. Tons of static... can't hear anything. We ordered & returned THREE of these Belkin voice recorders just to make sure the product is as bad as it seems to be.

1 out of 5 stars Wouldn't recommend   November 29, 2003

The voice recorder FREQUENTLY locks up the iPod and records noise from the hard drive. When I recorded my lectures, they were barely audible and the WAV files eat up hard drive space fast. It doesn't sync with iTunes either. If you want something to record lectures, I would recomend an MP3 player with flash memory like the iRiver 256 MB(have one that records great compressed audio) or the iAUDIO 256 MB. Maybe someday Apple will wise up and include a voice recorder on the iPod... until then, buy a different MP3 player if you want to record voice.

4 out of 5 stars School is cool with this cool new tool   November 24, 2003

If you like iPods, and your friends hate going to lectures, you can now record it for them and make them pay to hear it. You could recompress the mono WAV format into aac or mp3 and email it to them or put it on the local network for people to share, making you popular and a tool for the people who, darn it, just need to sleep in.

2 out of 5 stars okay, but some problems encountered   November 13, 2003

One annoying problem: when the mic is plugged into the iPod for more than a few minutes without recording, the iPod freaks out and freezes. You'll have to reset the iPod, pressing play and the middle button on the scroll wheel. Unless you are ready to record, don't plug the mic in. Quite annoying. I am not the only one who encountered this problem.

2 out of 5 stars so and so product, needs improvement   November 10, 2003

Upside: I can record with my ipod for the lectures that I go to, and download it to iTunes and share them with my friends who need to listen to the lectures on CD or WAV files.

Downside:
1) the quality of recording is average
2) it records the hard drive noise that comes up within the ipod every 2 mins. I can still listen to the foreground, but I have to put up with that noise! It is a pain.

All Belkin needs to do is to have a mic input so that people can plug in whatever mic they have, and change the software to adjust the mic sensibility
